Dear Families,

Welcome to Automotive High School, a learning community that embraces tradition, pride, and achievement. Though diverse in both their academic and social interests and cultural backgrounds, Automotive High School students are bound by their Piston pride and their commitment to the rituals and routines that underscore our learning community. It is through the combination of diversity, pride, and ritual that our students’ dreams, goals, and successes are born.

The academic program at Automotive HS ranges from an array of Advanced Placement courses to industry aligned courses, the combination of which, gives our students the unique opportunity to use their career ready skills to fund their post-secondary aspirations. Our students are challenged by dedicated teachers who create a rigorous, inquiry based academic environment where students are encouraged to advocate for themselves.

Our school motto, “Experience teaches so that we may fly by our own wings”, speaks to the philosophy of our learning community. The collective goal of the administration, faculty, and support staff at Automotive High School is to support students in their transformation from adolescents to young adults. In order to do this, we create a nurturing environment with clear expectations for both academic and socio-emotional success. Students are expected to think deeply about how their actions affect themselves and our learning community. The hallmark of thoughtful students is a learning community that mirrors students’ needs and desires. Automotive High School is such a community. Our course offerings, extra-curricular activities, school trips, community celebrations, and even Piston’s gear reflect the unique and diverse personality of the most important members of our learning community – our young men and women.

We are honored that the families of our young men and women have entrusted their academic and socio-emotional development to us. It is a responsibility that we take quite seriously. We are delighted to get to get the opportunity to get to watch each and every one of our students transform from a shy 9th grader to a self-possessed senior.
